Mr. Kalum Amarasinghe, the journalist who did the morning news headline program in private FM radio channel has been removed from the program due to one of his statements in a live program that it is not justifiable to shoot unarmed civilians.
It has been reported that what had sealed the fate of Kalum was quoting a headline from newspaper about security forces laying pipelines in Rathupaswala and speaking the forbidden words that there is only one ministry in the whole country at present.
Responding to questions raised by BBC Sinhala service from Mr. Kalum, he said , Military personals have warned journalists not to report news on this tense situation.
Military personals have detained a female journalist till 8.00 pm and also she was not permitted to receive medicines for her injuries, this news was reported in leading newspaper.
While reading this news report I questioned is this the correct time for journalists to raise voice for their rights?
Later on I read news on Defence Ministries intervention on this issue and questioned people do we have only one ministry in our country?, he said.
