State Banks Reluctant to give Soft loans to Former Cadres.

State banks had arranged livelihood soft loans for the rehabilitated former cadres for their employment activities. This loan facility was arranged by the Ministry of Rehabilitation under the Rehabilitation authority

This soft loan was given through the bank of the choice of the rehabilitated former cadres, but some banks are now reluctant to give the soft loans, the rehabilitated former cadres say.

The rehabilitation authority had sent letters to the Bank of Ceylon head office and the Kilinochchi branch office, to give the soft loans and copies of such letters had been already received by them. But the bank managers are reluctant to give the loans and say that the files had been sent to the head office and regional offices concerned and loans could be given only after the files come back to them, according to the former cadres.

The soft loans, already applied and sanctioned are delayed by the banks for unnecessary reasons; this is very hurting, the former cadres say.

The loans concerned have been officially announced by the ministry, and the attitude of Tamil officers in the banks is making them sad, and something should be done in this regard, the former cadres demand.
