The Northern military administration re-registers Tamils in Kilinochchi


The military intelligence unit it is learnt has once again commenced the registration of persons in the Kilinochchi District.


 The military intelligence unit is traveling from house to house in the Selvanagar, Krishnapuram, Bharathipuram and Vivekanandanagar areas collecting personal details, a resident from the area said.

They have paid special attention to unmarried Tamil girls and boys during the registration.

They have been questioned on how they lived during the period of the war and the period they were rehabilitated. Residents say that the military had taken photographs and fingerprints of the youth who have been rehabilitated.

The military had also taken photographs of the resettled persons in Puthukuduirippu in Mullaitivu.

It is also learnt that information pf people in the area had been mapped by the military using GPRS technology

People from the area said that the military had taken family photographs and photographs of their houses and informed them that the military had to be informed if any family member was planning on traveling to another area in the country.

Residents in Mullavaikkal had also undergone this treatment.

The registration carried out by the military has instilled fear in the minds of the people in the North.
