Big news is that offspinner R Ashwin has been dropped for tonight's game. Uttar Pradesh's 22-year-old medium paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been handed international debut in this high-voltage match.
Bhuvneshwar comes in place of Piyush Chawla. Also there are two more changes for India from last England game, with Ishant Sharma taking Parvinder Awana's place and Ravindra Jadeja replacing Ashwin. Ishant is playing his first T20I since December 2009.
Pakistan also have a debutant in 7 feet 1 inch left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Irfan. The visitors will have three pacemen in Irfan, Umar Gul and Sohail Tanvir. At the toss, Hafeez, when asked by former cricketer and TV presenter Ravi Shastri on Pakistan playing XI, forgot his players' names. "Umar Amin, Babar not playing... and ... I really can't remember," admitted Hafeez.
This is the first time India and Pakistan are playing a T20I in India. Also this is T20I debut for Chinnaswamy Stadium. Pakistan are touring India for a bilateral after a five-year gap. Their last trip to India was in 2007, which incidentally had ended with a Test here in Bangalore. They have begun this year's journey at the same venue now.
India and Pakistan have met thrice in T20Is and all have been won by the former. All three encounters were in ICC World Twenty20 tournaments (two in 2007, South Africa and one this year in Sri Lanka).
