Normalcy in Vanni Completely Affected by the Rain - GTN special reporter

Vanni is experiencing heavy rain for the past few days, and normal life is affected very badly, as never before. It is raining continuously for the last four days, and the temporary tents in which people live are submerged in the flood waters, says GTN reporter.

People are converged in their tents. in some places flood waters have gone  into the houses and people have found refuge in public places like schools. Flood waters have covered the streets and the lands. as such normal life has been completely affected. Vanni is submerged in the floods.

Vanni is experiencing rain from yesterday as never before and rain is continuing. With the intensity of the rain increasing, continuous rain has a chance of bringing havoc to the people, says the  GTN reporter.

People who do not have permanent abodes are living in aluminum and tarpaulin tents, Their situation is pathetic. flood water has entered their tents and has carried away the tents. In many places people have come out of their tents and are staying in safe places..

The army says that it is ready to evacuate the people from the flood waters at any time. When the army said that it was ready to evacuate the people to safer places, the people refused. The army had requested the people to call for their help whenever the rain and floods increase, and had given their  telephone numbers as well.

Normalcy has been completely affected in the Kilinochchi town because of the rain. Many areas in Kilinochchi including Thiruvaiyaaru, Raththinapuram, Kanagaambigai kulam, Kanchipuram, Periya paranthan, Pannankandy and Marudhanagar are now submerged in flood waters. The tanks and waterways are all filled up and people who live in the adjoining areas are very badly affected.
