brief respite from downpours brings ice warning

Forecasters have predicted more misery, issuing a warning that drenched Britain is set to be gripped by treacherous icy conditions. As the rain briefly eases, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning of ice for most of the country from tonight and into Monday.

But while the wet weather may ease briefly, another week of storms lays ahead with the next big deluge expected in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The dire predictions come as the Prime Minister prepares to lead the latest emergency meeting about the flooding crisis.
The Met Office, which has issued ice warnings for almost every region in the UK tonight and into tomorrow, said: “Icy stretches may form on untreated surfaces on Sunday night. The public should be aware of the potential for some locally difficult driving conditions."
