Marshall basketball: Pittman not registered for spring classes

Marshall men's basketball senior Elijah Pittman, suspended after the Penn State game, is not registered for classes at Marshall for the spring semester, according to the university registrar's office.

Pittman led the Thundering Herd last season with 16.1 points per game and was averaging a team-high 21.4
points per game this season. He also was ejected from the Herd's win over Western Kentucky just five minutes into that came after being assessed a "flagrant 2" foul for elbowing a Hilltoppers player in the throat.
Marshall coach Tom Herrion announced Dec. 9 that Pittman was indefinitely suspended. The team is 2-9 since then. Pittman came to Marshall in 2012 as a junior college transfer after stops at Chipola College in Florida and Lamar State College-Port Arthur in Texas.

Pittman also has been in court on misdemeanor battery charges, accused of punching a man during an altercation on Buffington Ave. in Huntington.

Marshall hosts North Texas tonight at 7.
