Among the brains behind the smuggling in of the containers containing ethanol that created an outburst in the society is Muththaiya Muralitharan’s brother say reports.
According to reliable informations the brains behind the racket are billionaire businessman Jayalath Peiris and Muththaiya Sasidharan, the brother of Muththaiya Muralitharan.
Investigations have revealed UPFA Parliamentarian Arundika Fernando and his cousin had helped the containers to be released from the Port and this act denied government coffers a sum exceeding Rs. 120 million.
Jayalath Peiris and Muththaiya Sasidharan have been fined Rs.15 million each for the crime and Jayalath Peiris has already paid this fine.
Recently, Muththaiya Muralitharan made statements on behalf of the government and according to political sources he intends contesting the Western Provincial Council elections to be held early next year.
