Four of the Students Arrested and Detained are Planned to be Implicated


Arrangements to Rehabilitate those who fought in the democratic way are also in the offing Large scale plans to implicate four of the students arrested and detained by framing charges against them are being undertaken,  according to reports reaching GTN.


Shanmugam Solomon (24)Kanakasundaram Jenmajenth, members of the Student Union of the Jaffna University, Paramalingam Dharsanan (24), secretary of the students union, and Bavananthan, the leader of the student federation, are the four students  to be framed on false charges. The plan is sped up and efforts are made to teach a lesson to the university community through this framing up.

In the meantime the five medical faculty  students who were the last ones arrested  and the students who surrendered along with their parents and the deans of their faculties, except for Bavananthan are said to have been released.

Some of these students had tried to surrender through the Human Rights Commission, but the commission office not being open in time the students had to to go to Vavuniya in order to surrender.

Meanwhile TID personnel who had visited the Jaffna University last Saturday had taken photographs of the Pongu Tamil Deceleration Board and the Maaveerar Commemorative Pillars, and also inquired about the incidents which took place on the 27th and 28th of last month, from the security guards there.

In the meantime the student community has questioned as to what use is there for rehabilitating the students who fought in the democratic way, and have said that there is no question of calling off the protests until all the students are released.
