We are being forced to stay in Ebola-hit Nigeria, allege Indian doctors

Three Indian doctors have alleged that their passports have been seized by a hospital in Nigeria in a bid to prevent them from leaving the Ebola-hit African nation. In a video released by the doctors, they allege that they are being threatened
and forced to stay in a private hospital in Abuja. They have pleaded with the Indian government to intervene in the video.

Concerns have been raised about Indians who are in several West African nations, including Nigeria, that have seen several Ebola cases in the past couple of weeks.

Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs have said that the Indian High Commission in Nigeria is in touch with the doctors, adding that no cases of Ebola have yet been reported from Abuja.

The hospital in Abuja has denied forcing the doctors to stay. "These doctors were treating 25 ICU patients and they wanted to leave all this and wanted to go to India. I told them to work on humanitarian grounds. We have not seized their passports. I told them that we are doctors and that we can't abandon the patients. Ebola is a global issue but there is no case in Abuja," Sunny Ukachukwuu of Primus Hospital in Abuja said.

However, the families of the three doctors have claimed that the hospital authorities have taken away their passports and are not letting them leave.
