Rajapaksa order Indian fishermen to be released on 15 August

On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, President Rajapaksa orders the release of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody, the President’s media unit said. The Navy arrests Indian fishermen who cross into its Sri Lankan waters,
while the authorities in Indian as well occasionally arrest Sri Lankan fishermen.

Independence Day is celebrated annually on 15 August in India.
