Producer claims Anjaan collected 30 crores in its first three days

Notwithstanding the mixed criticisms Suriya’s Anjaan has met with from the print and the television media, the film appears to be doing fairly well at the box-office. The film had an ideal release date as it was a national holiday on the eve of Independence Day which meant that fans and movie-goers would flock to the theatres in huge numbers on the first day and the subsequent two days which were weekends.
Starring Suriya and Samanatha for the first time as on-screen pair, Anjaan released in theatres on 15th August. Lingusamy has directed the film and has also co-produced the film under his banner Thirupathi Brothers. His brother Subash Chandra Bose, who runs the production house, has said that the film collected Rs.11.5 crores on the very first day and had collected Rs.30 crores in its first three days (till Sunday).
Thanks to the huge pre-release publicity campaign and the hype generated by the makers and thanks to Samantha’s glamourous avatar in the film including a bikini appearance, Anjaan has been doing very well in theatres. Suriya’s fans are only too happy to watch the film in theatres despite criticisms from a few quarters that the film could have been made better.
“Anjaan has been creating records at the box-office. In Tamil Nadu and Kerala alone, the film had collected Rs.30 crores in the first three days. It’s a record for a Suriya-starrer to collect so much in the first three days. As days wear on and the film enters its second week, we expect many more records,” says Bose.
