Two killed in clash at New Year party

Two persons were killed following a clash which reportedly took place during a New Year party at a residence in Panamura, Embilipitiya last night.
Two individuals had got into a heated argument at the function over a certain issue, which had then escalated and one of them had stabbed and killed the other, police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena said.

Another person who had intervened in the clash had also suffered critical injuries and had died after being admitted to the Embilipitiya Hospital, police said.

The suspect involved in the incident has been arrested by Panamura Police and is scheduled to be produced at court.
