6 students of Madurai Law College Israwel, Muttuchangu, Habeer Rahman, Ganes Prabu , Malaaichchami and Ashokumar commenced their hunger strike protest on March 13.
Among the hunger strikers three students fallen in sick and rushed to the Madurai Government hospital.
However next three students continued their hunger strike protest for six days. Secretary of the Madurai Lawyers Association, Ramasuwamy met the students said ‘We warmly welcome this protest, this protest would create major threats to health condition, we kindly request you to stop this protest”. Students respect his request and agreed to withdraw the hunger strike.
Students from various parts of Tamil Nadu fight to grant justice for Tamils in SriLanka. Tamil Students Forum organised protest at Madurai on last Sunday. Protest commenced near the racecourse and finally reached up to the Collectors office. More than 500 students were present at this protest campaign.
Paza Nedumaran delivered his speech through the mobile phone. In the speech leader said “Central government fail to stop genocide attacks carried out against the Tamils in SriLanka. We disappointed over silence maintained by the Indian government. Global Tamils were satisfied over protests stage by students in Tamil Nadu. I strongly believe your protest will lead to achieve best solution for Tamils in SriLanka.
Meanwhile students from various universities established, Eelam Tamil Freedom Front in Madurai last night. Members of the Eelam Tamil Freedom Front organised protest march in Madurai this morning. The protest began infront of the Madurai College and marched up to the Madurai railway station.
Due to the protest heave traffic congestion reported in the area. Police officials took measures to evacuate the protesters. On this time students blocked the road and stage protest in the mid of the road.
One student was injured during the clash and rushed to the hospital. All the other students were take to Pandy Bajar site.
Six members of the Nam Tamilar Katchi arrested over blocking train at the Madurai railway station.
