Budhist Monk Is Roughed Up By A Group Of Tamil Nationalist In Tamil Nadu

A Sri Lankan Buddhist monk is being roughed up by a group of Tamil nationalist in Tamil Nadu today. A group of monks from Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia went to thanjavur for research. These monks are currently pursuing archaeological studies in Delhi University.
The Brahadeewarar temple, called the Big Temple, is dedicated to Lord Siva. It was built by the great Chola King Raja Raja 1 (985 -1012 A.D). it is an outstanding exmple of Chola architecture. Recognizing its unique architectural excellence, UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage Monument.

The Sri Lankan Tamils issue has generated heat again in Tamil Nadu in recent weeks following the alleged cold-blooded killing of LTTE chief Prabakaran’s 12 year-old son Balachandran.

Meanwhile DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Saturday expressed his disappointment over the Centre’s silence on announcing its stand on the US-sponsored draft resolution against Sri Lankan in the United Nations Human Rights Council for its war crimes.
