13-Foot crocodile captured

A 13-foot crocodile that wandered into the human habitats from the Bandagiriya tank that has run dry was captured and handed over to the Hambantota Wildlife Conservation Office by the villagers today.

Residents said crocodiles from the tanks and canals that had run dry often glided into the neighbouring villages due to the prevailing drought.

Hambantota Wildlife office Range Assistant J.A.P. Wijeyakumar, Wildlife Guards Dumutu Manjula and Ruwan Jayantha Karunaratne visited the scene and took away the crocodile to be released to a forest reserve
