North Korea leader Kim Jong Un's uncle executed

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's uncle, Jang Song Taek was executed for overthrowing the state and seeking power for himself. The Korean Central News Agency denounced Taek as "despicable human scum,
who was worse than a dog." The report said that he had attempted to grab power by appalling methods.

The announcement came days after Taek was removed from all his posts because of a series of allegations against him including those of corruption and drug abuse. The news agency also called Taek a ‘traitor'. Reports suggest that Taek followers may protest against the execution and could lead to instability or lead to a miscalculation or attack on the South.

Taek had been seen by outsiders as the leading supporter of Chinese-style economic reforms. Though the White House did not confirm the news but it said that it has "no reason to doubt" that the execution took place.
