Britain warns SriLanka - UK parliamentarians visits SL

Britain warned, if SriLanka fail to full fill their promises made on protecting human rights in the country, they are forced work against SriLanka at the UN Human Rights Commission.

SriLanka government failure to make progress on accountability and reconciliation or adequately implement LLRC recommendations in the country, Alistair Burt said.

It’s compulsory to hold free and fair election in North. We have already passed resolution against SriLanka in March 2013.

UK parliamentarians visits SL

Ministry of external affairs says that a delegation of MPs in the UK parliament will be visiting Sri Lanka today (22) for a 4 day official tour.

5 members of the Conservative and Labour party members will comprise the delegation.

They are scheduled to tour around the country for observing purposes during this visit

the delegation will also hold discussions with key political figures like president Rajapaksa, the Speaker of the parliament, external affairs minister G.L. Peiris as well as opposition representatives like Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Their focus of the visit will be on the CHOGM in Sri Lanka and the local politics.

The tour was organized by the Commonwealth parliamentary Assembly and the British High Commission in Colombo.
