Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, to an English father and a psychologist mother, Rachelle Lefevre who cuts a pretty picture with her unkempt red hair, grey eyes and oval face, loves playing all kinds of characters.
“It doesn’t matter whether I am a hero or a villain. I’m interested in exploring things that we all have in common, no matter where we are from,” says Rachel, who will soon be seen in White House Down opposite Channing Tatum.
The actress, who began work as a waitress at a sushi bar in Westmount, Quebec, grew quite popular after starring as Victoria Sutherland, a renegade vampire in the Twilight Saga. This was the series that brought her close to being a “rockstar,” she feels. Lefevre, who began her career in the Canadian television series, Big Wolf on Campus and has also worked with well-known actors such as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Charlize Theron — will soon be seen in another television mini series, Under the Dome. “White House Down though is a popcorn film full of explosions, nail-biting tension and intense action. I am a die-hard fan of Bruce Willis’ Die Hard series. Tatum’s role is similar to that of Willis’ and he really can kick ass. I play his ex-wife, Melanie. Tatum who gets trapped inside the White House with “our” daughter and the President, has to save both in the film,” she explains.
Lefevre, has also been a part of other television serials such as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Charmed, Bones, Boston Legal, CSI: NY, How I Met Your Mother. A science fiction horror series, Under the Dome, her next TV series, produced by Baer and Spielberg and a few others, Lefevre believes that this series is just another way of trying to find the origin of life on another planet. “Under the Dome is just another way of exploring how the world reacts to the supernatural. It is also a very character-driven show about how people react when surrounded by supernatural situations and how they relate to one another. Being based on a Stephen King novel by the same name, also made it another reason why I wanted to be a part of it. Also involved in the production is Brian K. Vaughan, who is known for his Batman comic series. Having had a good relationship with Baer also helped me land the role for Under the Dome,” informs Lefevre who is a great fan of King.
The curvy actress who is still filming Under the Dome, has a lot of fun on the sets with her on-screen partner Mike Vogel who plays the role of an army veteran Dale ‘Barbie’ Barbara in the series. Lefevre who was last seen in Omerta, a film inspired by Mario Puzo’s book by the same name, and will also be seen in a gritty indie film, Homefront opposite Jason Statham and James Franco. “Having grown up in Quebec, I really wanted to work with Luc Dionne on a gangster film, even though I have never had any experience with such people. I really wanted to work in a film such as that and when Dionne gave me the opportunity, I just jumped at it,” she says, in parting.
