Thousands Protest in Vavuniya

The people from North who wanted to go to Colombo and show their anger in regard to9 the missing persons were stopped in Vavuniya by the army and they have resorted to a massive protest in front of the Vavuniya kachcheri.


 Though the protest started around 11 A.M Sri Lankan time today and thousands participated in the protest, no one from the kachcheri came out to receive the

memorandum that was to be handed over, according to a woman who participated in the protest, as told to 

The people who participated in the protest were expecting the officers from  the kachcheri would come out to collect the memorandum containing demands regarding the missing persons, but no one cared the  protesters, the woman added.

The people spent the night in the open fields and in pouring rain without any facilities and were holding today's protest in a very  tired mood, and they were to hand over the memorandum to the UN office

Protest Postponed

Reports coming from Colombo say that the protest scheduled to be held there today (Wednesday) in regard to finding  the missing persons, has been postponed to a latter date

Thousands of people who went to Colombo to participate in the protest are now stranded in Vavuniya.

They have been rounded up by the army and the police. and are ordered to go back from where they started.

Army trucks have circled the people, and the people have been lighting candles and shouting slogans throughout the night

'Run  the trucks over us, and kill us' the people who are stranded in the open fields and the streets have been wailing, according  to an interview given to
